Dear Friends of Untermyer Gardens:
The time is fast approaching for our Summer Solstice Sunset Soirée. Our most important fund-raiser of the year, it raises nearly a third of our annual budget. Our honoree is Ann Carmel, the new Chair of the Untermyer Gardens Conservancy and a great-granddaughter of Samuel and Minnie Untermyer.
To tempt you to join us on June 16, I enclose a wonderful photo from last year's gala. Our guests in the amphitheater were treated to the sight of Barbara Israel teeing off. Here she is with her "caddie," Marian Heiskell, to whom she has just given a million-dollar bill as a tip. Bill Cunningham of the New York Times is taking their picture in the background.

Untermyer Gardens was called "America's Most Spectacular Garden" by the national press in the 1920s. Come see what awaits you. This is a view in the Walled Garden that was taken last summer.
And if that weren't enough beauty, my cousin Kate Upton will be our Special Guest during another amusing spectacle in the Walled Garden (which is now a deep secret)!
