Dear Friends of Untermyer Gardens:
Last year, I gave a lecture in Manhattan about Untermyer Gardens, focusing on its design and history. This year, Timothy Tilghman, our lead horticulturist, will deliver the first lecture ever given that focuses purely on the horticulture of the garden. It will take place on Tuesday, March 10, at 6:00 p.m. at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, 225 West 99th Street.
Timothy says:
"In anticipation of an exuberant spring, please join me for a visual tour of Samuel Untermyer's reimagined gardens. We'll explore the past, present, and future of these once-great gardens with an emphasis on plants and planting schemes. The opportunities and challenges of changing color, form, texture, and growing conditions will be depicted with images taken throughout the year. I will focus on the large area within the walls of the Indo-Persian garden, where intense cultivation is in full swing, and glimpse the potential of the outlying Temple of Love, Vista, Color Gardens, and Gate House ruins."

Each ticket is $15. Seating is limited, I strongly encourage you to buy tickets in advance. Make out your check to the Untermyer Gardens Conservancy and mail it to 945 North Broadway, Yonkers, NY 10701. You can also pay online with PayPal or credit card on the lecture page of our website. Your name will be held at the door.,
In addition, I am especially pleased to announce that our fund-raising for 2014 greatly exceeded our goal, thanks to the generosity of a record number of contributors. We raised $500,000, well over our target of $350,000. Our fund-raising trajectory since the Conservancy's inception has been as follows:
2011 $100,000
2012 $150,000
2013 $250,000
2014 $500,000
