I am writing this from the World Headquarters of the Untermyer Gardens Conservancy. Late last year, the City of Yonkers gave us a lovely room at the Community Center, overlooking the Gardens. It is about 15 by 19 feet. We had it painted and installed a new carpet and a door. A new vinyl base, too.

To our delight, David and Jonathan Carmel, great-great-grandsons of Samuel and Minnie Untermyer, donated "heirloom" Untermyer office furniture for our space: three desks, a conference table, many chairs, a sofa, files, and even a printer.
Despite the endless snow, there is plenty of activity in the greenhouse, where 4,500 plants have been delivered. The theme of the central annual planting is still a closely guarded secret, but all will be revealed in the fullness of time.

Finally, a record number of tickets have been sold for Timothy Tilghman's lecture next Tuesday, March 10, at 6:00 at St. Michael's Episcopal Church. 225 West 99th Street, in the city. It will focus on the horticulture (not history) of the gardens to date, with some indications of what is to come. If you are interested, I suggest that you secure tickets now, before we run out of room. Tickets can be purchased on our website.
