Youth Horticultural Training Initiative
All intern spots have been filled for 2023. Please check in January for openings in our 2024 intern program.
Through its Youth Horticultural Internship, the Conservancy engages local Yonkers youth in the restoration and stewardship of Untermyer Park and Gardens and exposes them to potential education and career pathways. The program runs in three sessions from March through October and offers paid internships to juniors and seniors in Yonkers public high schools. Working alongside professional gardeners, interns are introduced to fundamental principles of horticulture and environmental conservation. Interns maintain and improve various garden areas and are the primary caretakers of the new Ornamental Vegetable Garden and Orchard, participating in its full life cycle from seed to harvest.
