Rhododendron Walk
A densely planted Rhododendron Walk recalls the famous rhododendron collection that formed part of the original gardens and leads visitors from the Ruin Garden to the historic gardens above.
In the Summer of 2019, the Untermyer Gardens Conservancy's first group of high school summer interns, led by gardener Liz Dreeben, were responsible for clearing the land, preparing the soil, creating pathways and planting almost 100 rhododendrons, azaleas and other woody perennials.
In the spring of 2022, almost 2000 understory perennials were planted by our gardeners, interns and volunteers, to create a longer season of interest.
