At long last, the Temple of the Sky has been restored and is open again, thanks to funding by the City of Yonkers! The site had been closed for 18 months, delayed of course by Covid, but the work has been skillfully done by Milcon Construction under the watchful eye of Integrated Conservation Resources. Once again, the magnificence of the architecture and the view to the Hudson River can be fully experienced. The mosaic floor remains as it was, but it will be restored later.
Although I am very hands-on when it comes to the Soirée, Timothy Tilghman succeeded in surprising me. He repurposed a slice of a mighty oak that was felled by a storm last year for my presentation. He counted the tree rings—all 180—and embedded an accurate mini-timeline.
