Dear Friends of Untermyer Gardens:
The fountains at Untermyer Gardens have now been filled and are flowing with water. They include the spectacular Temple of Love, recently called one of the Fifteen Most Romantic Places in New York State. This picture shows some of the remedial work that is keeping the canals whole until we undertake a full restoration this fall.
Dear Friends of Untermyer Gardens:
The fountains at Untermyer Gardens have now been filled and are flowing with water. They include the spectacular Temple of Love, recently called one of the Fifteen Most Romantic Places in New York State. This picture shows some of the remedial work that is keeping the canals whole until we undertake a full restoration this fall.
Sweeps of daffodils are in full bloom, with masses of tulips to follow.
Extensive work is being done to protect the desirable Untermyer-era trees, to remove some invasive trees, to prevent architectural damage, and to reveal a new prospect. After that we will have the happy task of planting many new trees to reinforce the original Untermyer design.
Our regular tour schedule will soon resume. As before, tours will emphasize either history or horticulture, along with my monthly president's tour.
Finally, let me remind you about our Summer Solstice Sunset Soirée on Wednesday, June 21, the actual solstice! This year it will be a grand celebration of the centennial of the garden. Please join on us on this festive occasion!
