Dear Friends of Untermyer Gardens,
Last week, our horticultural gears sprang into action as a 21-person-strong team of gardeners, garden class members, and high school interns planted 2,708 annuals along the canals in the Walled Garden in ONE DAY. The theme this year is pelargoniums, otherwise known as scented geraniums, which are especially popular in Iran, according to our resident Persian gardener, Maryam. We hope to show that common plants can be quite uncommon if planted creatively. This strategy worked to great effect in 2014, when we planted marigolds in the Walled Garden.
