In this year without a Mehregan, please consider a contribution to support our beloved Persian garden at Untermyer Gardens.
Sadly, we were prevented from gathering in 2020 for our fifth annual Mehregan in the Persian garden to enjoy each other’s company and share Persian food, dance, and music. Instead, we stayed connected and celebrated Persian culture and its unsurpassed legacy of poetry by exchanging inspirational poems and reflections in a series of digital letters over four months.
Not only does Mehregan provide a joyous occasion for the Iranian-American community to come together to enjoy Persian cuisine, music, dance, and poetry, it raises crucial support for the Conservancy’s efforts to care for the finest Indo-Persian garden in the Western Hemisphere and to restore its Persian Pool. Consequently, the gala’s cancellation has created a great hardship.
It is our hope that in this most difficult year, Mehregan friends from past years will consider a contribution to help sustain the garden. The Conservancy proposes to recognize new Mehregan contributions within the garden itself during the year 2021, an exceptional acknowledgment of the integral role Mehregan plays in the life of the garden.
In addition, two giving options that bring permanent recognition are also available.
For questions or assistance, please contact Cathy Michelsen, [email protected].
Donors in each of the above categories, as well as donors of $500 or more, will be recognized on a Mehregan tribute page of our website in the section dedicated to the Persian Pool. All contributions are fully tax-deductible.

- Donors of $1,500 will be recognized on a pair of communal donor plaques throughout 2021 near the garden entrance for support of the annual plantings along the crisscrossing canals which form a chahar bagh.
In addition, two giving options that bring permanent recognition are also available.
- Donors of $50,000 (payable over three years) will be recognized on their own bronze plaque engraved with a poem of their choosing that will be mounted on the pool’s coping. Only four opportunities remain. Learn more about our Persian Pool restoration campaign here.
