October 8, 1:00-1:45 p.m. -- Magic Show with Sara Crasson and Bamberg the Bear: Flavors of Magic presents a magic show outdoors in the Untermyer Gardens Amphitheater.
Sara Crasson is a vibrant personality whose innovative approach to magic and unique style have been surprising and charming audiences up and down the East Coast. Sara's signature show co-stars Bamberg the Bear. While small in stature, he is huge in his heart, with a determination to be the start of the show! A former headliner in the animal show at the zoo, Bamberg has been Magician of the Month for www.bearlybelievable.com two years running. Bamberg recently starred in the main showroom at Harrah's Casino, Atlantic City. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children under 12.

This tour is best for children between 7-12 who must be accompanied by at least one adult. Tickets $12 per child under 12, accompanying adults are free. |
October 8, every half hour from 2:00-4:00 p.m. -- Create Recycled Art: Artist Ann Ladd will guide you to to create your own amazing art sculpture using repurposed objects like CD's and vinyl records, water bottles, small toys, and other formerly precious items. You can bring your own (broken) small toys to include in your art. $10 per artist. |
October 8 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. -- Fly a Kite: Round out your day with a kite flying activity! Put together a kite and fly it on the big lawn outside the Walled Garden. Kids will be running and catching the wind as their kites soar like the hawks and eagles who often fly far overhead. Kites can be purchased in advance or at the event for $10 (until sold out), or you may bring your own. |
October 8, every 15 minutes from 2:00-4:00 p.m. -- Learn a Magic Trick: Members of the Society of American Magicians including today's performer, Sara Crasson, will teach you a magic trick you can do to amaze your friends. Tie a friend's finger to a box, and the strings will melt right through when you command, allowing your friend to escape when you want them to! Each trick $10. |
9:00-10:30 a.m. -- Family Bird Walk: Enjoy a morning of birdwatching with your family on this 90-minute bird walking tour. Come see which birds call Untermyer home, like the Northern Cardinal pictured here, and help us count the ones that are just passing by. You're never too young or too old to get into birdwatching! Tickets are $20 for adults, $5 for children under 12.

2:00 & 3:00 p.m. -- After the show, have an adventure of your own on a Family Adventure Tour in the Walled Garden: our guides will engage your kids with lively exchange about plants, mythology, architecture, sculpture, and ruins. Each 60-minute tour is intended for children between 7-12 who must be accompanied by at least one adult. Tickets are $12 per child, accompanying adults and children under 2 are free. Meet at the pop-up tent outside the Walled Garden.
2:00-4:00 p.m. -- Create Recycled Art: drop in between 2:00 and 4:00 to create your own amazing art sculpture using repurposed objects like CD's and vinyl records, water bottles, small toys, and other formerly precious items. You can bring your own (broken) small toys to include in your art. Artists will be using hot glue guns to create their pieces, so grownups should plan to assist their young companions. $10 per artist.
2:00-4:00 p.m. -- Learn a Magic Trick: workshops every 15 minutes. Stop by the Society of American Magicians table just outside of the Walled Garden where Members of the Society of American Magicians will teach you a magic trick to let you read your friends' minds! Have a friend place the cube with colored sides in the closed box and you can tell which color is up, every time. No sleight of hand necessary. Everyone can succeed. You can pre-purchase your prop for $10 or purchase it at the event, while supplies last.
2:00-4:00 p.m. -- Take a leisurely hayride along our rustic carriage trail starting at the top of the Rock and Stream Garden and going down to the Ruin Garden by the lion and unicorn, then back up to the starting point. You’ll pass through the meadow, woodlands, and the new circular fountain on the way. $10 per person, 10 maximum per ride. Meet at the Carriage Trail at the Temple of Love gate 5 minutes before your scheduled hayride.
