The 2023 Minnie Untermyer Concert Series
The Untermyer Gardens Conservancy announces its third annual Minnie Untermyer Concert Series. Taking place from June 10 to September 16, 2023, in the amphitheater in the magnificent Walled Garden and overlooking the length of this monumental Indo-Persian space, ten concerts have been scheduled. There will be orchestral and vocal music as well as dance performances. Popular offerings will include both jazz and German cabaret. Saba Ensemble, June 10 (Rain Date June 11)
Saturday, June 10 at 5:00 PM, RAIN DATE Sunday, June 11 at 5:00 PM. Founded in 2004, the Saba Ensemble is devoted to preserving and nurturing the exquisite art of Persian Classical Music. One part of their performance will be in the Persian classical music scheme of Homayoun/Esfaha and the other part will be in mode of Shur and its derivatives of Dahti and Abu-Ata. Some of the music will be dramatized by colorful Persian dancers.
The performance promises to be both educational and enchanting, as the musicians will showcase the unique structure of these Dastgahs through their masterful performances. The audience will be transported to a world of intricate melodies and rhythms, where the timeless beauty of Persian music will be on full display.
The Saba Ensemble is no stranger to the metropolitan area, having performed at prestigious venues such as the Miller Theater at Columbia University.

Tom Gold Dance, June 23 (Rain Date June 25)
On Friday, June 23 at 7:00 PM, RAIN DATE Sunday, June 25 at 5:00 PM, the amphitheater at Untermyer Gardens will be the perfect setting for a captivating performance by Tom Gold Dance. Bold and original, the company aspires to the highest level of artistry through an integrated approach to original choreography, music, and design within the framework of a traditional classical dance vocabulary. The audience is in for a treat as they experience two new works by the company: "B-Shert," a piece whose name means "destiny" in Yiddish, set to the beautiful music of Erik Satie, and “XV" which was recently premiered and is set to Mendelssohn’s Variations Concertantes, Op. 17 for cello and piano, in honor of the dance company’s fifteenth anniversary.

Townsley’s Jubilee Singers, July 16
