Dear Friends of Untermyer Gardens,
We always look forward to reporting on the past year’s accomplishments—and not just to toot our horn. It is a chance for us to thank the many, many friends whose support fuels our progress. By the end of this year, we will have welcomed at least 275,000 visitors, a staggering increase of more than 100,000 visitors over last year.
Please consider a gift to our annual appeal so we can build on the momentum. And you can double your impact through the Art$Westchester Challenge when you make a first-time gift or increase your annual support level before December 31.
We’re particularly proud of the progress we’ve made in the area of education and community outreach. Our horticultural training internship program expanded to serve 28% more Yonkers public high school students. Our enhanced curriculum for grades K-12 has served 900 students this year, a number that will multiply next year when we build our first indoor classroom. Numbers may be powerful indicators, but our favorite marker of success is the joy we see on the faces of our visitors, our volunteers, our interns, and even our own gardeners. |
Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple, famously said “You have to find the intersection of doing something you’re passionate about and at the same time something that is in service of other people. I would argue that if you don’t find that intersection, you’re not going to be very happy in life.” Without a doubt, that intersection can be found at Untermyer Gardens.
We invite you to join us at the intersection of passion and service. Please consider donating to our annual appeal. When you give, you become a partner in our mission to care for and protect the garden and to share it with the world.
